KEELY HODGKINSON produced a season-ending performance of PURRfection – as she won a London race dressed in a new black CATSUIT. A frustrating athletics year, in which she struggled for peak fitness due to a freak injury, ended with victory at the women’s-only Athlos event at Saracens’ StoneX Stadium. She also wore wrap-around shades as she cruised to triumph in the women’s 800 metres in a meet record time of 1:56.40 in North London. Sign up for the Sport newsletter Thank you! The nearest challenger in the six-woman race, Swiss star Valentina Rosamilia, was second in 1:58.75 – 2.35 seconds behind. The attire is something she has been working on behind the scenes with sponsors Nike and could form part of her 2027 season. The aerodynamic suit is similar to the green and white suit Australian 400 metres runner Cathy Freeman famously wore when she claimed gold in front of home fans at the Sydney 2000 Olympics – one of the most iconic moments in track-and-field. Appropriately worn during London Fashion Week, Hodgkinson did a twirl of the suit on the finish line for adoring fans and then said: “I know it’s pretty sick. “This is something I have been working with Nike for a long time. It was the right place to bring it out. “Speed meet style, an all-women’s event, yeah it went down a treat. Emily Campbell, two-time Olympic weightlighter medallist, said: “It’s an amazing event. The spectacle, the show. Everything that women’s sport needs to be. Everything. “My favourite part was Keely’s reveal of the catsuit. Ten out of ten. She looked amazing, she raced amazing. It was a perfect way to end a very good night.” In a six-women 1500 metres race, European champion Georgia Hunter Bell finished second (4:19.54) as she was pipped on the line by Pole Klaudia Kazimierska (4:19.43).
