Teachers’ Day: Qatar PM-FM honours 80 government school teachers

The celebration reflected the Ministry’s focus on raising awareness of the importance of the teaching profession and supporting the development of human capabilities, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and its focus on education and human development.Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani honoured 80 teachers from government schools at a Teachers’ Day ceremony in Doha on Wednesday, recognising their contributions to shaping Qatar’s education system.“Today, I was pleased to honour 80 male and female teachers from various government schools,” Sheikh Mohammed wrote in a post on X.“This recognition is a tribute to the impact they have made, an impact that will extend to future generations, and to their dedication and outstanding efforts in the educational field.”Held under his patronage at the Ritz-Carlton Doha, under the theme “Giving That Bears Fruit for Generations,” the ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah Al-Khater.It opened with students singing Qatar’s national anthem and included a video showcasing the varied journeys of teachers across Qatar.In her opening speech, Al-Khater said “the lasting impact of teachers is not measured by what they teach, but by what they leave behind,” stressing the role of educators in shaping students’ character and preparing future generations.Al-Khater also recalled the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s enduring loyalty to his teacher, Ahmed Ali Mansour, noting that Sheikh Hamad had travelled to Egypt to personally offer condolences to Mansour’s family following his death, a gesture she described as an example of gratitude and respect for educators.The ceremony also featured an exhibition of educational projects and applied research by students and teachers, highlighting efforts to develop research, critical-thinking and innovation skills, alongside the use of modern technology to improve learning outcomes.Sheikh Mohammed and Al-Khater presented awards to the honoured teachers before joining them for a group photograph.
