Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’ Music Video, Starring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, to Debut at VMAs

Taylor Swift has recruited a couple of A-listers for her “Patient Zero” music video. Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell will star in the video for Swift’s new single, which releases on Friday alongside her “Life of a Showgirl: The Encore” album. Swift will debut the video at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, where she is also being honored with their inaugural Artist-Director Award. Swift dropped a sneak peek at the video on “CBS Mornings” Thursday, before sharing it on her social media accounts. Popular on Variety The cinematic teaser includes clips of Swift and Johnson mirroring each other: across a bathroom sink, diving into water and standing together at a grave. A close-up shot of Swift crying — which offers a great view at her engagement ring to Travis Kelce — follows, before Farrell steps out of a car and the three meet, all dressed in black. Although it wasn’t specified, it’s likely that Swift directed the music video, since the VMAs Award she is receiving is meant to honor artists who direct some or all of their own music videos.
