Taylor Sheridan's 10/10 Yellowstone Replacement Is So Good, It Has 4 Seasons And A Spinoff

One of Taylor Sheridan's replacements for Yellowstone is such a good series that it's already got four seasons and an upcoming spinoff show on the way. Since the ending of Yellowstone in 2024, Taylor Sheridan has been moving away from his acclaimed neo-Western series. Many of Sheridan's best shows now have no connection to Yellowstone and its spinoffs. Shows like Landman, Lioness, The Madison, and more are all standalone stories. Even with all the shows a writer as prolific as Sheridan has created, however, only one of them has truly taken Yellowstone's place. Yellowstone, after all, was far and away Sheridan's biggest and most successful creation. It lasted five seasons, spawned four different spinoff shows, including the sequel series Marshals and Dutton Ranch, and put Sheridan on the map in the first place. While many of Sheridan's more recent shows are just as good as Yellowstone, none of them have been able to replicate the massive success of it. None of them, that is, except for Tulsa King. The Sylvester Stallone-led crime drama follows Dwight Manfredi, a New York gangster who moves to Oklahoma and starts his own criminal empire there. Sheridan created Tulsa King, and while he no longer works as a writer for the series, it's still his best replacement for Yellowstone so far. Tulsa King Is One Of Taylor Sheridan's Absolute Best Shows Tulsa King is, simply put, one of Taylor Sheridan's best shows. It has everything fans love about Yellowstone and Sheridan's other works, from movies like Hell or High Water to shows like Landman. Like Sheridan's other shows, Tulsa King has a star-studded cast that includes Sylvester Stallone, Samuel L. Jackson, Neal McDonough, and more. It also features a strong and traditional protagonist who isn't afraid to do some bad things to become the best in his chosen industry. While Tulsa King has many of the hallmarks that make Sheridan's shows such hits, it also stands apart on its own. Tulsa King is one of the most impressive acting performances Sylvester Stallone has given in years, and he brings a ton of emotional depth and complexity to Dwight Manfredi. It's also Sheridan's only proper crime thriller since Hell or High Water, as Dwight is constantly facing threats from law enforcement, rival gangs, and even his own past. Beyond Dwight, Tulsa King also has a lot going for it. Dwight's gang is a great found family with some great comedic moments, their plans to expand their reach give the show a lot of tension and unexpected twists and turns, and the show has some of the best villains in any of Sheridan's shows. Tulsa King has also enjoyed a lot of the same success Sheridan's other shows have. Tulsa King season 4 is just a month away from its October 16 release date, and there are reports that Paramount has already opened the writers' room for season 5. Tulsa King Is Becoming A Franchise To Rival Even Yellowstone Tulsa King's quality has always rivaled Yellowstone, but it will soon have a chance to rival the entire Yellowstone franchise. As previously mentioned, one of the most irreplaceable parts of Yellowstone is the franchise it has spawned, with four spinoff shows and counting. None of Sheridan's other creations commanded the attention of viewers as well as the Dutton family did. There are plenty of benefits to a show becoming a franchise and being able to support spinoffs, but many of Sheridan's shows can't do that. Shows like Landman and Lioness tell fairly self-contained stories that don't have much room for other characters to go off and do their own thing. Tulsa King, however, has a built-in way to spawn spinoff shows, and its first spinoff show has already been filmed: Samuel L. Jackson's Frisco King. Frisco King, which will follow Jackson's character establishing his own criminal empire in Texas, is proof that Tulsa King can become a franchise unto itself. Dwight can meet new and old criminal friends, inspire them to strike out on their own, and bring the same fish-out-of-water formula to towns and cities across the Southern United States. Tulsa King may not have generations of the Manfredi family to focus on, but it has just as strong of a franchise opportunity. After two years, Tulsa King is finally ready to take Yellowstone's place.
