Taylor Sheridan & Jon Bernthal’s Fiery 100-Minute Thriller Puts Up Solid Netflix Fight Against New Releases

Now, Sheridan and Bernthal's 2021 team-up thriller movie, Those Who Wish Me Dead, is fighting off new Netflix releases on the streamer's domestic chart. The R-rated thriller was at one point the 2nd most-watched movie on the streaming service, only losing to the recent Netflix Original movie The Whisper Man, which brought back crime thriller master Robert De Niro to the genre. While The Whisper Man has since fallen to #5 on Netflix's chart in the United States, right below the Sheridan and Bernthal action thriller, Those Who Wish Me Dead is now having to deal with competition from other films. At the top of Netflix's Top 10 Movies chart nationwide is currently the new Tyler Perry movie Why Did I Get Married Again?, which dropped on Netflix on September 9. Right after it is The Seemingly Perfect Family, which was originally released earlier in 2026, on March 15 on Lifetime, before recently arriving on Netflix on September 15. The only movie not released this year that is currently ahead of Those Who Wish Me Dead is the animated Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, at #3, but it is one of the best fantasy movies of all time, serving as a fierce competitor. Taylor Sheridan's Next Movie Will Evoke "Western Thriller" In Two Different Ways Those Who Wish Me Dead was a neo-Western thriller, and in two different ways, Sheridan's next movie as a director will evoke that too. For starters, Sheridan's next movie, Warner Bros. Pictures' F.A.S.T., which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 14, 2027, is an action thriller that should get viewers' pulses pounding in a similar way to Those Who Wish Me Dead. Additionally, for the Western connection, F.A.S.T. stars Brandon Sklenar, who Sheridan fans will know as the actor behind Spencer Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel series 1923. As such, Those Who Wish Me Dead's Netflix success could help build an appetite for Sheridan's new movie.
