Tarot reader reveals 5 key signs someone from your past wants to reconnect

You may be seeing reminders of them in your everyday life (Picture: Getty Images) After 30 years of reading tarot cards for people, I have noticed that the past has a funny way of signalling and resurfacing for us when we least expect it. Many people come for readings about family or exes, feeling like something is brewing, only for the cards to confirm a reconciliation, or a final closure, lies ahead. I am not saying that every old song on the radio, or vivid dream, means your past is about to come calling, but there are signs. Thoughts are energy, and when someone is missing you and thinking about you so hard, well, that can manifest into something that lands in your life. Looking for more insight? Of course, your own subconscious also has a powerful influence over your realm too, and can project things out there that you need to notice. Here are five subtle signs to look out for that suggest someone you’ve lost touch with wants to reconnect… They seem to be everywhere around you You hear their name in conversation, you smell their fragrance, spot a lookalike face, or find yourself noticing films or songs they loved. This is called synchronicity: a meaningful coincidence that feels connected to something happening in your life. There’s a psychological element here at play too, because once you’ve noticed this and are ‘primed’ to remember them, your attention will more easily pick up more reminders of them, especially if you enjoyed a long relationship with many experiences and shared memories. Notice what happens without immediately deciding what it means. Write the reminders you notice down and assess if there’s a genuine pattern. You dream about them out of the blue Ask Metro Use AI to go deeper into the stories you care about – powered by Metro and trusted publications. Dreams can be very vivid, and feel real, often leaving you waking up in the same emotional state you were in during the dream. Some might think dreams operate as a psychic connection, but it could also be that you’re actually still processing the end of the relationship, your feelings, and unresolved questions. Closure is a hard thing to really pin down. It’s important to look at the context of your dream (Picture: Getty Images) The useful thing is to ask yourself what the dream triggered inside you. Did you feel relieved, angry, peaceful, or sad? Was there something you never got to say or ask? How can you answer this unanswered feeling for yourself, or do you need to reach out and ask? Often, closure has to be self delivered, no one owes us (or is often honest enough) to really say why things happened. I often feel like my dreams are like graveyards filled with folk from the past — like a haunting. You feel compelled to contact them You can just be getting on with life and then, out the blue, feel a strong urge to reach out to someone. In psychic practice, this can be classed as intuitive knowing; a sense of understanding something you must do even though there’s no external input or reason. This can be a difficult feeling to interpret though, as it’s also perhaps just intense nostalgia or missing someone. So, before acting on this, pause and ask yourself what you really want here. Are you curious or hopeful or still angry or hoping for a reconciliation? Then, align that with what is appropriate, respectful, and likely to lead to a good outcome for you. There are many threads to consider before imposing on someone from the past. And, if they have asked for no contact, you must — no matter what — respect that boundary. The connection resurfaces through an unexpected event Maybe you find a photo while clearing out a drawer, or a mutual friend passes on news, or a song you associate with them starts to play at the exact moment you’re thinking of them. This is an uncanny experience, particularly if several events play out in succession. It feels like the Universe is conspiring to bring them to your attention. What’s the Universe trying to tell you? (Picture: Getty Images) Rather than fixating on one moment or urge, try to see the wider pattern. This is a good time to turn to the cards too. Ask your reader, or your own deck, to explore what the coincidence really means to you. Sometimes it is genuinely nostalgia, sometimes there’s a life lesson ready to be plucked from the memories, or some more emotional healing available to you if you reviewed events with a more dispassionate and compassionate eye. You feel something is unfinished This is a very common reason people come for readings about exes, and even ex friends. People find themselves returning to the same person, wondering what if, wondering if and how things could’ve turned out differently. This can be a really powerful feeling, especially if things ended badly or suddenly or with very little reason given. It’s very hard to get past that lingering sense of wanting more closure, clarity and even comfort. However, unfinished feelings don’t necessarily mean unfinished business. The truth is, none of these experiences are proof that someone is going to return to our life, but they can be signals that we ourselves are not entirely done or over with this relationship. I often recommend folk to write a letter saying everything they never got to say. Don’t send it — in fact, you will probably one day delete it with a wry smile, and may even wonder why you felt so strongly about someone when you’ve processed all that went wrong between you. It’s likely you’re already in the process of moving on, and are further on than you thought. Still, sometimes it’s good to circle back when you’ve healed some more. Just to recalibrate.
