Swara Bhasker tried IVF to become single mom before meeting Fahad, then got pregnant

Actor Swara Bhasker has revealed that she underwent two failed rounds of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) with anonymous sperm donors when she was considering becoming a single mother, before meeting her now-husband Fahad Ahmad and getting pregnant. The actor, who is currently a contestant on Rise & Fall, opened up about her journey to motherhood during a conversation with Priyanka Chahar Chaudhary on the show.A clip from the show has now gone viral on social media. Recalling how she once considered becoming a mother through IVF, Swara said she had even convinced her parents that she wanted to have a child without waiting to get married.“I was okay to do IVF. I had convinced my parents, ‘Meri shaadi toh hone se rahi, main IVF se bachcha karungi’ (I am not going to get married, so I will have a child through IVF),” she said.The actor added that her parents initially took some time to understand her decision but eventually supported her. However, they also warned her about the challenges of raising a child as a single mother in India. “First they were like, ‘Hain?’ And then bechare mere parents yaar, bade sweet log hain. They were like, ‘Okay,’ but of course talked to me and said, ‘Listen, it will be very challenging in a country like India. But it’s okay if that’s what you want,’” Swara recalled.The actor revealed that she went ahead with two rounds of IVF using anonymous sperm donors, but neither attempt was successful. “And, like, I really wanted to have a child, like have a family. And, you know, I did two rounds of IVF. Anonymous sperm bank donors and hua nahi (it did not happen),” she said.How Swara met Fahad AhmadSwara later met Fahad Ahmad at a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in New Delhi in January 2020. The actor recalled how their friendship eventually turned into a relationship.She said they were friends before they started dating, but things moved quickly once they became romantically involved.“And then Fahad and I, like, hooked up. We were friends for a long time, and then we just dated for like two, three months. Like, I got knocked up, like, immediately. It was insane. And we got married in court. We had a court wedding. So, 2-3khushkhabri humein saath mein mil gayi (we received two or three pieces of good news together),” she said.Swara and Fahad registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act on January 6, 2023. They announced their marriage publicly on February 16 that year. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raabiyaa, in September 2023.Swara has often spoken about her personal life and experiences in the public eye.
