Straw Man Army Announce New Album True North: Hear “Striking Home”

New York duo Straw Man Army make an extremely cool form of psychedelic post-punk, investing their records with krautrock dynamics and vast concepts. Two years ago, Straw Man Army released Earthworks, the final album in a trilogy that began with their 2020 debut Age Of Exile. Today, they announce True North, a different kind of concept album. This time around, they're going all-acoustic. To make True North, the members of Straw Man Army went to a cabin in the woods north of New York City. Over three 72-hour sessions, they wrote a set of songs for acoustic instruments. Lead single "Striking Home" has the same psychedelic post-punk edge as their past records, and they evidently weren't afraid of using effects pedals. But the acoustic sensibility gives it a pastoral, intimate feel that adds a fascinating new dimension to the band's style.
