A Stephen King-approved horror series is bringing its scares to Netflix. As the author of Carrie, The Shining, It, Pet Sematary, and other iconic horror stories, he has heavily influenced the genre, meaning that Stephen King's recommendations for horror shows come with extra weight behind them. Some of his previous recommendations include Evil, Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, Yellowjackets, Midnight Mass, and Alien: Earth. He called Midnight Mass a "dense, beautifully photographed terror tale that climbs to a high pitch of horror by the 7th and last episode", and for Alien: Earth wrote that it "might be my favorite. The SFX are amazing (not to mention gross), and the dialogue is sharp." Another horror show that King has praised is MGM+'s From, which he has described as "believable and scary as hell" along with having a "wonderful concept, beautifully handled." Now, the series is coming to Netflix for the first time. From Makes Its Netflix Debut On October 19 Netflix has announced that From seasons 1-3 will be added to the streaming service on October 19. The series debuted on Epix, later rebranded as MGM+, in 2022, but has never been available on Netflix before. Subscribers will be able to watch all released episodes so far, except for season 4, which debuted new episodes between April and June 2026. There are 10 episodes per season, meaning there will be 30 total episodes available on Netflix. The show is set in a small town that does not let anyone escape. Being trapped is made worse by the smiling, flesh-eating monsters that come out every night, along with lethal visions and other evils that emerge as the series progresses. Lost star Harold Perrineau leads From's cast as Sheriff Boyd Stevens, who does his best to keep the residents alive and to figure out if there is a way to escape for good, which is made more complicated by new arrivals and the twisted way the town retaliates against these attempts. Netflix Is Adding From At The Perfect Time MGM+ The October 19 Netflix premiere is perfect not only because of the Halloween season, but because From can reach an even wider audience ahead of its fifth and final season. After initially being an underrated and overlooked gem, awareness of the show has continued to increase, as has its popularity, with King's praise helping to bring more recognition. Those with a Netflix subscription, but not one for MGM+, can soon watch the majority of the show, and will have more reason to subscribe to MGM+ to watch season 4 and then season 5 when it comes out. Season 5 was confirmed to have started filming in July, a week after the From season 4 finale was released. A release date has not been set yet, but a 2027 debut seems likely given the quick turnaround heading into filming for this season. From is already the most-watched MGM+ show of all time, but after bringing seasons 1-3 to Netflix, season 5 has the potential to achieve even more record-breaking viewership. From seasons 1-3 come to Netflix on October 19.
