Sign in to your TheGamer account Steam has always been on the cutting edge of the PC gaming community, continually introducing new features, software improvements, and even its own brand of hardware like the newest Steam Frame VR Headset. Despite the improvements, however, Steam's massive size and the growing number of indie developers have started causing their own share of problems that are getting harder to ignore. Thankfully, Steam has just introduced a brand-new way to keep track of upcoming and recently released titles that is tailored to your specific gaming interests, while also helping to wade through the influx of AI slop releases. Steam's New Calendar Feature Is Absolutely Fantastic As outlined on the official Steam page, the new addition to the Store comes in the form of a new release calendar, which shows you a fully curated selection of "recently released and upcoming games filtered down to the set we think you are most likely to be interested in." Taking into account playtime and users with similar interests as your own, the system is more focused on what you consistently play rather than something you've launched once or twice for a limited amount of time, and will update itself with new user data every day over the 8-week release horizon. Originally introduced for Steam Labs beta testers in October of last year, the feedback has allowed them to polish the system even more to create an excellent new way to discover new releases, with the full release now including several new features like filtering, 1.0 release inclusions, DLC, and syncing across all your devices, among other improvements. A Feature Releasing At The Perfect Time While the system is already great considering the sheer abundance of new releases, the Calendar also launches right after the surge of AI-driven games got so bad that even Super Smash Bros.' creator Masahiro Sakurai chimed in on the issue, as the Calendar focuses on titles with actual player interest rather than showing simply new titles that can range from excellent new adventures to complete shovelware. Developers cannot pay Steam to show up on your Calendar, which is made solely with user-specific data. Although the system isn't likely to be a perfect representation of your specific interests, players have already reported finding dozens of excellent indie gems using the feature, which Steam themselves claim they've already seen plenty of success with click rates on games compared to the standard discovery options.
