Vera Therapeutics said Tuesday that its recently approved drug Trutakna stabilized kidney function and reduced the risk of kidney-related death and other complications in patients with a chronic autoimmune kidney disease, according to final, two-year results from a Phase 3 clinical trial. In July, the Food and Drug Administration granted accelerated approval to Trutakna for the treatment of IgA nephropathy, or IgAN, a disease caused by the buildup of immune antibodies in the kidneys. The condition leads to progressive loss of kidney function and potentially organ failure requiring dialysis.
