Following the relatively disappointing box office failure of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Star Wars fanatics have been in dire need of something new and exciting to sink their teeth into. While there are numerous upcoming Star Wars projects on the horizon, many of which look set to revitalize the franchise in one way or another, this 2027 release could be the saving grace some fans need. Joining a plethora of other upcoming Star Wars projects is Legacy of Skywalker, a brand-new release that is set to take fans through the history of the storied family in an all-new medium. Those with a reverence for the likes of Luke and Leia Skywalker will certainly enjoy this new release, and those who feel as if their story is over may still want to check it out, as it promises to deliver their legend in a whole new and exciting way. For many, Star Wars is best enjoyed on the big screen. For some, the TV shows and assorted expanded media have provided fun and exciting ways of engaging with its burgeoning universe. For others, the tabletop is the most enjoyable way of interacting with the plethora of heroes and villains from across the franchise's historic run, with the likes of Star Wars: Unlimited, inarguably one of the very best trading card games available, proving to be an enormous success. Announced a short while ago, Legacy of Skywalker is a brand-new Star Wars: Unlimited set scheduled for launch in 2027 that is going to expand upon the aforementioned tabletop offering. It joins the lineup of other exciting new releases, many of which are centered around similarly exciting eras and sagas within Star Wars' history. For those unfamiliar with Unlimited, it is a trading card game developed by Fantasy Flight Games that allows players to control powerful heroes and villains, utilize iconic weapons and ships, and wage war across the galaxy. It has, as aforementioned, seen meteoric success since it first launched, which has been propelled by both the existing fandom surrounding the IP and the steady stream of new cards and sets. When it was initially announced, Legacy of Skywalker had few details attached to it, but now we know a little more about what to expect. Legacy of Skywalker will be a standard booster expansion for Star Wars: Unlimited and will largely focus on the Skywalker family throughout the assorted eras they were associated with. So, you can expect to see the likes of Anakin, Leia, and Luke pop up. Additionally, the set will be Premier-legal when it comes out, which means that you'll be able to use any cards in the set within competitive formats. Ostensibly, this is a full-blown expansion, one that fans should absolutely get excited about, and one that newcomers with a reverence for the characters can likely jump straight into. Star Wars: Unlimited has always been relatively beginner-friendly, and Legacy of Skywalker should be no exception.
