Star Trek's Spock Actor Officially Confirms Dark Scrapped Episode [Exclusive]

Published Sep 7, 2026, 8:30 PM EDT The Enterprise crew have had an eventful fourth season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, encountering noir-tinged Klingons, a haunted derelict starship, and a bizarre transformation into living puppets. However, the episode you won't see took a trip into one of the darker corners of Spock's past, as pitched by star Ethan Peck. Peck talked about the episode on a panel at Tampa Bay Comic Con with co-star Christina Chong, which was moderated by Collider's Maggie Lovitt. Peck stars as Spock on Strange New Worlds. The series follows the adventures of the Enterprise and her crew in the years before The Original Series, when it was still captained by Christopher Pike (Anson Mount). Over the course of the series, Spock has been temporarily transformed into a human, met future commander James Kirk (Paul Wesley), and romanced crewmates Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) and La'an Noonien-Singh (Chong). All the while, he's struggled to balance the human and Vulcan sides of himself. During the panel, Peck discussed the episode he'd pitched, which ultimately didn't come to pass: I thought it would have been so cool if someone from Spock's past came back, and expected a favor returned. I understand it to be called a blood debt. Someone has done something for you, and they come from your past, and they want their debt paid...and it was something sort of unethical, or in the ineffable grey, which I thought could have been a cool episode. You know, maybe someday. Co-star Chong, meanwhile, got her wish: season 2's musical episode, "Subspace Rhapsody." However, it didn't fulfill one of her requests: "I wanted dancing Gorn with top hats and canes and sequins and all of that." What Do We Know About Spock's Past? Spock's past has long been of much interest to Star Trek's fandom. Spock tended not to reveal much of his history to his friends and crewmates on The Original Series, which eventually introduced both of his parents, Vulcan leader Sarek and human diplomat Amanda Grayson. Much of Spock's past, including his childhood on the planet Vulcan, where he was ostracized for his half-human heritage, was revealed in an episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series in 1974. That episode, "Yesteryear," was penned by Original Series scribe D.C. Fontana, and is considered one of the franchise's best animated outings. Much later, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier featured a previously unknown half-brother, the cult leader Sybok, while Star Trek: Discovery revealed that the human Michael Burnham had been raised alongside Spock as a sister during their childhoods.
