That's in part because there are so many Star Trek episodes to go through, counting every iteration, that some fans don't even make it to Voyager. Those that do, however, will find one of the most interesting crews in the series, coupled with an interesting lead in Captain Janeway. While Seven of Nine can be a controversial topic in some Star Trek circles, she's back in Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown. If you're looking for a new Star Trek experience, Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown, a new simulation/combat game might be it. It's available now on Steam, developed by Gamexcite and published by Daedalic Entertainment. "Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown is a story-driven survival strategy game in which the fate of the iconic starship is in your hands. Take the helm, manage the ship and resources, and make difficult decisions. Will you be able to bring home the ship and its crew? Did you ever wonder what would have happened had Captain Janeway decided differently? If an important crew member had followed a different path? Or what the outcome would have been had the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager embraced Borg technology to increase their chances of survival?" With Across the Unknown, you'll delve into story concepts that didn't necessarily show up in the original series. Players can be even riskier than an average Starfleet captain, or be even more reserved. Even though it's a Star Trek game on the side of the Federation, you can also choose diplomacy or combat in some cases. Or you can research things that crew members don't approve of. Either way, the game teases consequences, which is exactly what you'd expect from a Star Trek journey. The game rests on two pillars: ship management and exploration. The U.S.S. Voyager has been moved into the Delta Quadrant, and you'll need to make the best of it. That includes tracking crew needs, designing and maintaining their quarters, and ensuring the ship is in shape when conflict comes knocking. New tech can boost morale and change bonuses on the ship, so there's a give-and-take here with the micromanagement system. Exploration is obviously key, and you can scan space to find what you need; in the captain's chair, you can alter course. If you were worried it's all a simulation, there is ship combat and an alternative game mode called "Q Trials," where you can take on a roguelite run instead of the standard campaign format. If you're a Star Trek: Voyager fan, you'll want to look into Across the Unknown. Right now it's sitting at "mostly positive" reviews on Steam, and there's some deluxe DLC available a few months after launch.
