Star Trek: The Original Series Officially Returns November 2026 In Universes Beyond

The adventures of Captain Kirk, Spock and the rest of the crew laid down the formula for everything that was to come later, and though the effects are a little dated, the storytelling really is very impressive. That's probably why the franchise has never really moved on from that time entirely, and we have seen many of those characters return with new (and the original) actors in more recent adaptations. That trend is showing no signs of stopping either, as one of the most significant Star Trek releases ever is on the way soon, and it comes as part of one of the most beloved TCGs in the world. Wizards of the Coast The Universes Beyond strand for Magic: The Gathering has certainly come in for some criticism over the years for some of the choices it has made, but it has also given us some truly memorable and unique sets that are prized by collectors. The forays into Middle-earth have been a personal highlight, but there are all sorts of additional releases that have hit similar heights. Up next to that particular plate is Star Trek, and it's a considerably more broad option than we saw with the recent Hobbit release. Over on the official Wizards of the Coast website, you can find a breakdown of everything that they have planned for its arrival, and it should be an option with some great picks for collectors and players. The set is currently scheduled to enter its pre-release period from November 6-12, before the full release comes a day later on November 13. The pre-release will serve as the first opportunity to try out the new cards, and you should find that local game stores are running events where players can take each other on, on an even playing field, by drawing from new Play Boosters. You will also be able to take part in Magic Presents: To Boldly Go, a sealed league that runs for the entire season from November 13, 2026–January 28, 2027. As the website explains, "Players begin with six Play Boosters and build their card pool with optional additional boosters over time by playing matches at Starfleet Academy and across the four quadrants of the galaxy, ranking up through Starfleet as they go." It should be a ton of fun, and you can pick up the Solemn Simulacrum card for your troubles as well. Wizards of the Coast Though all of that will obviously appeal to players more than collectors, the latter really aren't missing out with the Star Trek release either. The big pulls to look out for from that perspective are the Signature Cards, which have been signed by the original actors, and which are numbered between 1-250 in each region. Those will only be available in Collector Boosters though, so make sure to be aware of that before going in.
