Six Injured, 165 Evacuated After Russian Attack Triggers Explosions Near Kyiv

Six people were injured and 165 evacuated after a Russian attack struck an enterprise in Kyiv region’s Bucha district on Friday evening, triggering a major fire and secondary explosions, Ukrainian officials said. Fires at five houses and a food establishment have since been extinguished, he said. All six injured people were receiving medical assistance, while rescuers, police, medics and other emergency services remained at the scene. According to preliminary information from the Prosecutor General’s Office, at around 8:10 p.m. on Friday, a drone either fell or struck the territory of an enterprise in the village of Myla. Authorities were still working to determine the type of drone involved. A major fire broke out at the enterprise, followed by explosions. One private house was completely destroyed and seven others were damaged. A fire engine and a residential facility for elderly people were also damaged. Prosecutors have opened a pre-trial investigation into possible official negligence under Article 367 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code. Investigators will examine whether explosive materials were legally stored at the enterprise, whether the necessary permits were in place and whether officials responsible for the site acted properly. The July 6 incident in Vyshneve also followed a Russian strike and triggered prolonged explosions at ammunition warehouses, killing nine people and damaging more than 280 homes.
