(Photo: Representative)New Delhi,Oct 10, 2026 14:43 ISTLeaving a job with a monthly salary of Rs 50,000 meant giving up a predictable source of income. For Varsha, who previously worked at Zomato, the alternative has been to earn through different kinds of work, from making technology-related content to teaching others. In a video posted on Instagram, she said she had quit her job five months earlier. Her September earnings came from four separate streams, although she admitted the month was slower than July and August. Her largest source of revenue was technology user-generated content (TechUGC), which brought in Rs 1,00,900. This involves creating content around technology products and services.BRAND DEALS AND TEACHING ADD TO THE EARNINGSBrand partnerships on her own social media page were the second-largest contributor. Varsha said these deals earned her Rs 86,000 in September, although a large part had not yet reached her bank account. “Out of which 66,000 is yet to hit the bank,” she said in the video. Her third income stream comes from one-to-one sessions in which she teaches people how to earn through TechUGC. These sessions brought in Rs 36,242 during September. The fourth stream, remote sales, contributed much less. Varsha said this work earned her around Rs 5,744 for the month. Together, the four streams brought her reported September revenue to Rs 2,28,892.MORE EARNING POTENTIAL, BUT NO FIXED PAYCHEQUEVarsha’s account offers a glimpse of an alternative to a conventional job: combining different skills and sources of income instead of depending on a single monthly salary. But the figures also show that earnings can fluctuate.“This is honestly way less than what I made in July and in August,” she said, describing September as a “down month”.Unlike a fixed salary, income from brand deals, content projects and individual sessions can vary from month to month. Some payments may also take time to arrive, as Varsha’s outstanding brand partnership money illustrates. Her next goal is to improve her earnings. “I think this is a down month, and I'd like to pick it up again in October,” she said.- Ends
