Sept. 11 a holiday in Ilocos Norte for Marcos Sr.’s birth anniversary

The late former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. (PIA Ilocos Norte, PIA Region 1/Facebook) MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Sept. 11 (Friday) a special non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte to commemorate the 109th birth anniversary of his late father and namesake, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. By authority of President Marcos, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed Proclamation No. 1421 on Sept. 8, declaring the holiday to give Ilocos Norte residents the opportunity to participate in the commemorative activities. “It is but fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamation states. He is scheduled to attend a Mass at Batac Church, and lead the wreath-laying ceremony at his father’s monument. Other holidays Meanwhile, Marcos also declared Sept. 10 (Thursday) a special non-working holiday in the Bais City, Negros Oriental, to celebrate the Hudyaka Festival: Festival of Harvest, through Proclamation No. 1420.
