A security guard was fatally injured after a sliding gate fell on him at an under-construction hostel on KG Marg. Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact circumstances and responsibility.A 50-year-old security guard died after a sliding gate fell on him at an under-construction hostel on KG Marg in central Delhi, police said on Monday. The incident took place around 5 pm on Sunday at the construction site, where the victim, identified as Dharampal, was on duty.Police said the Parliament Street police station received information about the incident following which a team reached the spot. Dharampal, a resident of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh, was found trapped and injured underneath the gate.Rescuers lifted the gate and pulled him out before rushing him to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He was unconscious at the time and later succumbed to his injuries, a senior police officer said.During the preliminary inquiry, Dharampal's 54-year-old co-worker, Brijesh Tiwari, told police that the two men were on duty from 9 am to 9 pm. According to Tiwari's statement, two electricians were carrying out electrical connection work on the sliding gate around 12:30 pm. The gate, which had already been installed at the site, suddenly fell towards Dharampal, trapping him underneath.Police said the gate was subsequently lifted and Dharampal was taken to hospital for treatment. A crime team inspected the site as part of the investigation.
