You can reach them at James.t@thegamer.com It's been a while since EA was the most vilified publisher in the industry, but between the Saudi Arabia buyout and shutting down BioWare, the company is working hard to win that crown back. The only problem with closing a legacy studio that pioneered some of the most influential RPGs in gaming, like you've just shot Mordin in the back, is that you're poking a rachni hive of dedicated fans. And those same fans are now rallying to #SaveMassEffect. The petition has amassed nearly 300,000 signatures, inspiring Dragon Age and even Anthem fans to start their own. But one person has taken things a little far. As spotted by Reddit user u/Ok_Link9625, someone has graffitied the campaign's slogan outside of the EA offices in Madrid. "I stumbled upon the EA offices in Madrid as I was leaving a movie theater and saw this on the floor to the entrance and on the wall in front of the offices," they explained. "This Does Nothing But Make Fans Look Crazy And Dumb" Much like the #SaveMassEffect billboard in Times Square, the community is split. Some, like u/Xan1995, argue that "whoever did this didn't even think twice about how this could backfire on us publicly," while another commenter bluntly said, "Vandalizing property is not the way to do it." u/doctorstrange06 even mused, "Man selected the Renegade option!" "Petty vandalism and an online petition aren't going to save sh*t," u/stoopitmonkee argued. "All we can hope for is them releasing/selling the IP to another studio. That's kinda it." "This does nothing but make fans look crazy and dumb," u/Graphica-Danger said. "Look out for fundraisers the #SaveMassEffect movement does in the future and talk about the petition with people. Maybe print off some flyers which fans have made with a QR code to it. Don't do this." However, others, like u/Sir_Bass13, aren't nearly as worried. "Oh no the poor billion dollar corporation is gonna have to spend a couple hundred dollars to paint over it." "This is a message on a sidewalk that can be hosed off and you guys are acting like it's arson," u/Just_Strawberry_505 said. "What are they gonna do, cancel it again?" joked u/AyFuego. "This is just random nonsense to someone walking by, it's not like it's some charged political statement." BioWare There is one obvious question we have to ask about the post. Stumbling across what looks like freshly painted graffiti outside of EA's offices after a trip to the cinema looks awfully suspicious, and has raised concerns that OP is the one who spray-painted #SaveMassEffect onto the wall. There is a cinema across the road, so it's certainly feasible that they just wandered by, but not everyone is convinced. "Yeah, you totally stumbled on this. You totally didn't do this yourself and post it for clout," u/NamiRocket said. "Bro I've posted twice on Reddit including this," u/Ok_Link9625 replied. "I could not give less of a sh*t about internet imaginary points."
