Saudi Arabia’s security remains a red line for Egypt: Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call today from Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, according to an official statement by the Spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Mohamed al-Shennawy. Sisi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Saudi Crown Prince ahead of the upcoming Saudi National Day. Egypt’s President wished Saudi Arabia continued stability, prosperity, and development under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Expressing his gratitude for the fraternal gesture, the Crown Prince reaffirmed the deeply rooted, historic ties uniting the two nations. According to al-Shennawy, the discussion covered the full scope of bilateral relations. President Sisi emphasized the importance of advancing cooperation across various fields to fulfill mutual interests, drive sustainable development, and support regional security. The Egyptian President also underlined the shared destiny of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, reiterating that the security of Saudi Arabia and the wider Arab region remains an integral pillar of Egyptian national security. He stressed that joint action is critical to overcoming the current regional challenges. Reciprocating the sentiment, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman praised the growing trajectory of Saudi-Egyptian relations and the close coordination aimed at fostering peace and stability across the Middle East. He highlighted the need to intensify high-level political consultation and reciprocal visits across multiple domains. The call also addressed pressing regional and international issues. Both leaders stressed the urgent need to de-escalate ongoing regional tensions to safeguard peace and mitigate risks to global energy security, supply chains, and international trade routes.
