Paul Jones / Android AuthorityTL;DR One UI 9.5 could bring Google’s Satellite Connectivity Hub to Galaxy devices. It would allow users to connect to satellites and send messages or contact emergency services in remote areas. One UI 9.5 could also add a new “Debugging only” USB mode aimed at developers. Although Samsung recently launched the One UI 9 update for Galaxy devices, reports and leaks about One UI 9.5 are already circulating. We’ve seen several leaks regarding design improvements and other changes that could arrive with the update, and today, newly leaked screenshots reveal two more features Samsung could implement.According to screenshots from an internal One UI 9.5 build shared by Fahad Ali Javed on X, Samsung is working on a new “Satellite connectivity hub.” It could be a direct implementation of the Satellite SOS feature Google first introduced on the Pixel 9 series. The feature will let users send messages and contact emergency services via satellite in areas where mobile data and Wi-Fi networks aren’t available. It will also include a demo mode to help users get acquainted with how the feature works, as well as an alignment guide to help them establish a stable satellite connection when needed. The screenshots also show that One UI 9.5 might add a new “Debugging only” option in USB settings. This could sit beside existing options that appear when a Galaxy device is connected to another device with a USB cable. The “Debugging only” mode could offer developers a cleaner way to access ADB and other developer tools.Currently, if a Galaxy device with USB debugging enabled is connected to a PC, it doesn’t show any notification alerting the user that the feature is active on their phone. It also doesn’t give users an easy way to ensure USB debugging isn’t being used while their phone is connected to a PC or another device. Hopefully, the new “Debugging only” option will make it easier for users to enable or disable USB debugging access without heading to developer options every time.Since these features were spotted in an internal build, there’s no guarantee Samsung will ship them in beta or stable builds of One UI 9.5. However, here’s hoping they make their way out of internal testing so Galaxy users can finally get native satellite SOS support and the new “Debugging only” USB mode.Thank you for being part of our community.
