Samsung’s 2026 flagship finally gets the latest Android update in the US

Sign in to your Android Police account A week after Samsung started rolling out the stable One UI 9 build for the Galaxy S26 series in South Korea, the company is expanding the update's availability to the US. The stable firmware is currently available on T-Mobile's network and should be available on other carriers soon. The BZID firmware weighs over 4.1GB and brings several of the Galaxy Z Fold 8's best features to Samsung's 2026 flagship slab phone. It also bumps the security patch to September 2026, addressing several vulnerabilities. AT&T should not be far behind and release the One UI 9 firmware for S26 units on its network within a day or two. Note that if you own the unlocked Galaxy S26 variant, you may have to wait a little longer for the update. The wider availability of Android 17-based One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 series comes as a report from yesterday suggested that Samsung has pushed back One UI 9's wider release by a week. If you are in the US and own a Galaxy S26, navigate to Settings > Software update > Check for system update. One UI 9 brings Fold 8 features to the Galaxy S26 Besides all the improvements that Android 17 brings, One UI 9 adds features like Now Nudge, My FanCam, Call Brief, Privacy alerts, a dedicated Warranty and care hub, and enhanced security controls. It also comes with a more customizable Quick Settings panel. My FanCam, which debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, is a useful addition. It lets you select a person in an existing video and then automatically reframes the clip to keep them centered. As for the Warranty and care section, it will show the warranty and Samsung Care+ coverage status of all Galaxy devices linked to your Samsung account. Samsung released the stable One UI 9 with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 lineup in August 2026. So, it has taken the company a while to bring the latest One UI build to its 2026 flagship phones. Worse, Google pushed Android 17 to Pixels in mid-June 2026, and Samsung is only now getting around to pushing the update to its premium phones. Unfortunately, despite the three-month gap, One UI 9 is based on Android 17's initial release, not QPR1. So, it's missing the latest round of improvements Google has rolled out to Android.
