Samara Weaving & Nicholas Braun Set For Environmental Thriller ‘Hivemind’; Ciarán Foy Directing For Thunder Road, Badlands

EXCLUSIVE: Samara Weaving (Ready or Not franchise) and Nicholas Braun (Succession) are set to lead Hivemind, an environmental thriller from Thunder Road and Badlands that is now filming in Dublin. Directed by Irish filmmaker Ciarán Foy, Hivemind centers on the evolution of a new breed of killer wasps and the small-town authorities who team up to prevent a deadly global outbreak, as we reported when Badlands snapped up the spec by Peter Gaffney (Yeti, Don’t Go in the Water) last year. In addition to the leads and director Foy, Amazon MGM Studios has boarded Hivemind, with plans to stream the film internationally on Prime Video. Watch on Deadline Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Diarmaid McGrath are producing for Thunder Road alongside Scott Strauss for Badlands, Macdara Kelleher and John Keville for Wild Atlantic Pictures, Adam Rodin and Gaffney. The project is backed by Renegade Capital, with Jon Shiffman and Andrew Schwartzberg serving as executive producers. CAA Media Finance and Verve are handling domestic sales. Having a major year, with her casting as Emma Frost in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, Weaving recently reprised in Searchlight’s horror-comedy Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. She’s also been seen this year in IFC’s Over Your Dead Body from Jorma Taccone, which won the Audience Award at SXSW, as well as Magnolia’s romantic crime thriller Carolina Caroline from Adam Carter Rehmeier. Known for playing Cousin Greg in HBO’s Succession, for which he earned three Emmy nominations, Braun is coming off a role in Amazon MGM’s comedy The Sheep Detectives, which grossed over $132M worldwide. Upcoming, he will be seen in The Entertainment System Is Down from multiple Palme d’Or winner Ruben Östlund. Foy’s debut feature, the psychological horror film Citadel, premiered at SXSW, where it won the festival’s Midnighter Audience Award. Since then, he’s directed Blumhouse’s Sinister 2 and the Netflix/Intrepid Pictures horror film Eli, along with episodes of Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor and Sweet Tooth.
