Sainsbury’s slashes prices of essential food items by 50% for the long weekend – full list of bargains

SAINSBURY’S has slashed the price of a host of fresh food items by half for the Bank Holiday weekend. The supermarket giant is offering half-price Nectar Prices on a selection of fruit and vegetables, including sweetcorn, peppers and mushrooms. The deals run until Monday 31st August. It means shoppers can stock up on fresh essentials for less as they get together with family and friends over the long weekend. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! Bargains on offer include British sweetcorn cobs for just 35p, down from 70p, and red sweet pointed peppers for 37p, down from 75p. Shoppers can also snap up flat mushrooms for 62p, down from £1.25, and baby gem potatoes for 77p, reduced from £1.55. Giant mangoes have also been cut to 75p from £1.50. But the savings will not stop there, as this is just the first in a run of four consecutive weekend Nectar Prices events throughout late August and September. Sainsbury’s said the ongoing offers will help make fresh fruit and veg more affordable for lunchboxes, after-school snacks and midweek meals as families settle back into their routines. Richard Crampton, Commercial Director for Fresh and Convenience at Sainsbury’s, said: “We know customers are looking for great value without compromising on the quality of the food they bring home. Most read in Money “That’s why we’re offering half-price Nectar Prices on selected fruit and vegetables, making it easier to put fresh, nutritious food on the table over the Bank Holiday weekend and beyond.” To bag the discounts, existing Nectar customers simply need to scan their card or app at the checkout in-store. Those shopping online will have the savings applied automatically, as long as their Nectar and Sainsbury’s accounts are linked.
