Another added: “Cooks in four minutes . . . gets in the bin in four seconds.” But a third defended the invention, explaining: “Sweet filled pasta is a real thing from Italy that, in certain regions, goes back a long time. It’s not just Sainsbury’s being weird.” Cocoa pastas are traditionally eaten in the Italian regions of Umbria and Tuscany as a main course or dessert, and in Hungary where it is a sweet treat. Sainsbury’s limited-time chocolate girasoli “swavoury” offering — bringing sweet and savoury together — follows its sweet and salty peanuts, pepperoni and honey pizza and honey sausages. The Taste the Difference dish follows the success of Morrisons’ chocolate ravioli, which the rival supermarket said was popular when sold over Easter. Comment now
