Ryan Moore reunited with George Boughey-trained and Michael Tabor-owned Survie against three Aidan O’Brien horses

Credit: PA IT’S not often you see three Aidan O’Brien horses in a race and Ryan Moore not riding any of them. But that will be the case in Sunday’s star-studded Qatar Prix Vermeille on Arc Trials weekend at Longchamp on Paris. Ryan Moore and George Boughey will team up with the rapidly progressive Survie in a huge Prix Vermeille in Longchamp on Sunday Credit: PA Moore, regarded by many as the best rider in the world, is instead jocked up aboard the George Boughey-trained and Michael Tabor-owned Survie. O’Brien will rely on his usual back-ups to Moore, with Wayne Lordan on Sugar Island, Derby-winning rider Ronan Whelan on Composing and Christophe Soumillon on Beautify. Although on the face of it, the three O’Brien horses look to have their work cut out being 25-1, 50-1 and 50-1 respectively. Survie, whose owner Tabor makes up part of the legendary Coolmore ownership group, has a much better chance in the 2.50pm contest. The five-year-old mare arrives for her Classic-winning trainer on the back of successive Group 2 and Group 1 wins in Saratoga that have taken her earnings to over £1million. A narrow sixth in the Listed Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot when Moore last took charge, Survie, who only joined Boughey last December, has taken off in recent weeks. Boughey said: “The plan had been always to go straight to the Breeders’ Cup, but I’ve been really taken by how she’s got back from America and with these fillies, I think when they are in form – and she might not be come the Breeders’ Cup – you have to take your chance. “She really looks like she is training as well as she ever has and there is no reason not to run her. Most read in Horse Racing “It’s obviously a track where she has been effective before and I’m looking forward to it.” Boughey’s No1 rider Billy Loughnane, whose partnership with the now-retired Bow Echo has been the story of the season, is in Germany on Sunday, where he will ride Hardwicke hero Giavellotto in the WETTSTAR.de – 156th Grosser Preis von Baden. It will be a frantic few hours for Moore, who will make a middle-of-the-night transatlantic dash from Kentucky to ride in France. Moore will partner Willie Mullins’ 9-4 fav Ethical Diamond in the Group 2 Kentucky Turf Cup at 9.54pm UK time Saturday night. He then partners O’Brien’s 2-1 fav Causeway 40 minutes later in the Nashville Derby, where first place is worth £1.3million. The Coolmore No1 looks to have a major book of rides in the French capital on Sunday. He rides former Derby favourite Benvenuto Cellini (evens) in the Qatar Prix Niel at 4pm, right after he gets the leg up on Sussex Stakes runner-up Gstaad (11-8) in the Prix du Moulin at 3.25pm.
