The singer is returning to Saturday Night Live as musical guest alongside host Shane Gillis. Rosalía, Shane Gillis, and Kenan Thompson for NBC's Saturday Night Live Courtesy of NBC/Saturday Night Live Trending on Billboard Rosalía has already made the diverse album Kenan Thompson pitched to her. In a new promo for this week’s Saturday Night Live, Thompson shares a series of ideas for things he should make to Shane Gillis — only to discover that the comedian and Rosalía have already done them. The promo begins with Gillis introducing himself as this week’s host alongside musical guest Rosalía. Thompson then jumps in with an idea for a character he wants to play on Gillis’ Netflix comedy Tires. “I have some ideas for my next character next season in Tires,” Thompson tells Gillis. “Oh, we already filmed it,” Gillis replies. After Thompson insists that Gillis must not have seen what he filmed, the host eventually gives in. “Dude, character development, the color schemes. Incredible,” Thompson says. “It’s okay,” Gillis responds. “Okay, I didn’t see it.” The back-and-forth sets up the promo’s running joke: Thompson keeps suggesting things that have already been done. That becomes pretty hilarious when Rosalía comes into the conversation. “What if I made an album that blends pop and classical music in 14 languages?” Thompson asks. “That’s LUX, my album. I already made that. Sorry,” Rosalía responds matter-of-factly. And she has a point. Rosalía’s fourth studio album LUX made a huge impact on the Billboard charts following its release, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The album also debuted at No. 1 on five Billboard charts: Top Latin Albums, Classical Albums, Classical Crossover Albums and World Albums. The project’s multilingual and classical influences are central to LUX. Rosalía recorded the album in 13 languages, while its expansive orchestral production helped the album cross over into Billboard‘s classical and classical crossover charts. Rosalía is returning to Studio 8H as the musical guest for the second time. She previously appeared on SNL in March 2022 while promoting Motomami, performing “Chicken Teriyaki” and “La Fama.” She also made a cameo during Bad Bunny’s 2021 SNL performance of “La Noche de Anoche.” This time, Rosalía will join Gillis for the Oct. 10 episode.
