| Games News Writer Published October 20, 2026 12:52pm Updated October 20, 2026 12:52pm A different kind of Digital Love (Rockstar/Getty) Justice weren’t the first choice for GTA 6’s soundtrack according to an insider, as Rockstar tried to make music history. Rockstar recently announced Justice have created an original score for GTA 6, led by the track Flower In A Hurricane, but they apparently weren’t the studio’s first choice when it comes to French electronic music duos. Daft Punk, the electronic music pioneers known for songs like One More Time, Digital Love, and Get Lucky, were apparently approached by Rockstar with an ‘unlimited budget’ to reunite for the game’s soundtrack, following the duo’s split in 2021. This comes from prominent music industry leaker Has It Leaked on X, who wrote: ‘Daft Punk’s management (yes, still exists) were pitched ‘a final comeback’ of the duo for the GTA 6 soundtrack with what was ‘essentially an unlimited budget’. Justice were Rockstar’s second choice.’ Daft Punk are no strangers to video games. The duo appeared as playable characters in DJ Hero, and they have several songs in the excellent Beat Saber. They have some connection to past GTA games too, with Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust, featuring Daft Punk member Thomas Bangalter, included in GTA 5. GTA 6 is already destined to be one of the biggest cultural events of the decade, but it’s crazy to imagine how much more seismic it could have been if Rockstar had managed to convince Daft Punk to reunite for the soundtrack. In this instance, an ‘unlimited budget’ offer seems perfectly understandable. Want GTA 6 news? While not nearly as big, Justice are still an exciting second option. The duo are heavily indebted to Daft Punk musically and the label that signed them, Ed Banger Records, is managed by former Daft Punk manager Pedro Winter. They’re best known for the songs ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ and ‘Genesis’. With or without beloved French DJs, GTA 6 is set to make a huge splash based on new pre-order estimates. According to analytics firm Sensor Tower (via GamesIndustry.biz), GTA 6 has been pre-ordered 6.08 million times as of October 13, 2026, which equates to an estimated revenue of $594 million (£445 million). It’s claimed 74% of pre-orders are on PlayStation 5, while 26% are on Xbox Series X/S. Additionally, it’s claimed GTA 6’s pre-orders are 148% ahead of 2022’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is one of the most successful Call Of Duty games ever, having racked up $800 million in its opening weekend. In other words, expect one of the biggest widespread sick days imaginable when GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026.
