Andy's career includes having worked for publications such as FanSided, KSiteTV, TV Fanatic, It's Just Movies, Heroic Hollywood, TV Overmind, and more. Outside of his career as an established reporter, Andy is the host and producer of The Showrunner Whisperer, The Flash Podcast, the editor-in-chief of Multiverse of Color, and the network director of DC TV Podcasts. Following Thanos' defeat in 2019, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to enter a new endgame. Tony Stark gave his life for the world in Avengers: Endgame, and while that may have been the last time he played Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is making his return to the MCU timeline this year. However, there is a catch this time, as the longtime superhero star will take on the role of the villainous Victor von Doom, one of Marvel's most powerful foes of all time. Avengers: Doomsday is more than a month away from its massive theatrical release, and to celebrate the Phase 6's arrival, Downey Jr. announced through social media the actor who will be voicing Doctor Doom in the Japanese-dubbed version of the film, with Toshiyuki Morikawa landing the gig. Check out his full announcement video above. The talented voice actor has a long history of roles that he has taken on throughout his expansive career, from video game franchises like Final Fantasy to iconic anime projects such as Digimon, Naruto, My Hero Academia, and One Piece. He is no stranger to the superhero brand, as he voiced Cyclops in Marvel Anime. The Avengers: Doomsday cast will see the return of the X-Men from the Marvel-Fox era, as several actors are reprising their roles. Following his tragic passing on October 28, the Phase 6 film will also mark the late Sir Patrick Stewart's final acting gig, as he portrays Professor X one more time. Additional cast members also include Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. It wouldn't be shocking if Toshiyuki Morikawa also voices Doctor Doom again for the Japanese dub of Avengers: Secret Wars when it hits theaters in 2027. However, as of writing, that remains to be seen, since the Phase 6 finale, which will officially wrap up the Multiverse Saga, has not started principal photography yet. Avengers: Doomsday will also see Marvel's First Family finally join forces with the heroes of Earth-616 and the X-Men, as The Fantastic Four: First Steps' leading stars are back for the upcoming MCU movie. The ensemble will feature some of the newer faces in the franchise, including Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Danny Ramirez as Falcon, while Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers, reuniting him with Anthony Mackie's Captain America and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes. Time will tell how the story explains why Doctor Doom looks like Tony, as Marvel Studios have been keeping plot details heavily under wraps ever since they officially announced Downey Jr.'s return to the franchise during their Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. If they don't explain it in Doomsday, it's always possible it will be fully laid out in Secret Wars, as Victor will serve as the big bad in the 2027 follow-up, which will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, as they make their comeback to the MCU with the two team-up projects. Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18.
