By Carol Robinson | crobinson@al.comAn attempted robbery at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex left one suspect dead, and the other suspect charged in his slaying. Police were notified at 7:30 p.m. Saturday that a shooting victim was being taken to DCH Regional Medical Center from the 1000 block of Investigator Dornell Cousette Street. Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Lt. Michael Hall said investigators learned the shooting happened in the parking lot of Magnolia Apartments on Highway 69 South. After processing the crime scene and speaking with multiple people who were involved and witnesses, authorities determined the shooting occurred when two 20-year-old Oxford men, Kurtae’vious Earl Tyson and Daronte Collins, tried to rob a 25-year-old Tuscaloosa man. During the incident, shots were exchanged.Tyson was critically injured and later pronounced dead at DCH. Hall said Collins has been charged with felony murder, first-degree robbery, attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He is being held without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
