Unicode has released a draft list for Emoji 19.0, including just five candidates. Users will be able to send their friends a vulture, an ornate bottle, an inukshuk – a stone structure associated with Inuit culture – or eyes looking right. There's also an orchid – a flower with a rather rude hidden meaning. While the word 'orchid' derives from the Greek word for testicle, the flower is often associated with female genitalia. If they're approved, the new emojis could be available from September 2027. 'Their eventual appearances on Apple, Samsung, and other platforms will depend on how individual vendors choose to represent them,' explained Emojipedia. Unicode has released a draft list for Emoji 19.0, including just five candidates The name 'orchid' is derived from the Greek word for testicle, thanks to its twin tubers that resemble a pair of testesThe five proposed emojis are draft candidates for Emoji 19.0, which is expected to drop in September next year. 'Between now and September 2027, Unicode will conduct several additional reviews of these draft emoji candidates, meaning that some proposals may not advance to final approval,' Emojipedia explained.'There is also a possibility that additional emojis could be added to the draft list before it is finalized, though later additions that expand the number of proposed emojis have been exceptionally rare in recent years.'The vulture sample image shows a large brown and grey bird, with a red head and neck and yellow feet. The ornate bottle is lime green with a yellow cork, and could represent 'potions, elixirs, oils, or syrups', according to Emojipedia. The orchid image shows a large, magenta flower with a green stem, while the inukshuk shows a stone structure, not dissimilar to Stonehenge. If the Eyes Looking Right sound familiar, that's probably because there's already an eyes emoji – although this sees the eyes looking the other way. The five proposed emojis are draft candidates for Emoji 19.0, which is expected to drop in September next yearEmojipedia said: 'If Eyes Looking Right is approved, the Eyes should be renamed as Eyes Looking Left.'While they're yet to be approved, the new emojis have already been widely discussed on X.'Why... why do we need a potion,' one user asked. Another vented: 'I'm tired of getting ~5 per year:/ why not release a ton all at once?!'And one noticed the potentially rude use for the orchid, quipping: 'I should call her.' The name 'orchid' is derived from the Greek word for testicle, thanks to the flower's twin tubers that resemble a pair of testes. Herbarium World explained: 'Orchid flowers can also be erotically suggestive, though more reminiscent of female rather than male genitalia. 'But with over 50,000 orchid species, the flowers are suggestive of many things: monkey faces, insect rear ends, and bird beaks.'
