Rain returns tomorrow: Storms, showers likely across India on Sunday

THUNDERSTORMS IN SOUTH, EAST, NORTHWESTThe IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places in Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on October 11. (Photo: IMD) Parts of Andhra Pradesh are likely to experience gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, while strong surface winds are also expected at isolated places in the state. Jharkhand and Odisha may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of similar speeds. In the Northeast, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to experience isolated thunderstorms with lightning.Rainfall is expected to remain scattered across several parts of the country. (Photo: PTI) The IMD has also noted that a weather system currently over the Strait of Malacca is likely to emerge over the Andaman Sea around October 11.Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13.Such a system could influence rainfall patterns over parts of the region in the coming days.The IMD's latest forecast therefore points to a gradual monsoon retreat alongside continued rainfall and thunderstorm activity in several parts of India.- Ends
