Race-by-race tips and previews for racing at Rosehill on Saturday

Ray HicksonSeptember 10, 2026 — 2:27pmRace 1: TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP (1400M)1. Wayburn is on the back-up from last week’s highway where he had no luck and should have been in the finish. He went back and was last on the turn, he was strung up for runs and when he got into the clear the race was gone. Beaten two lengths. Should relish the 1400m. Was dominant winning a Rosehill highway two starts back and with luck, goes very close. 16. Street Force looks a promising type and she made a mess of her rivals in a Scone class 1 second-up at this trip. Skips a grade but gets in light and draws well. 15. Brutal Miss rallied strongly when under pressure at the Gold Coast and arrived in time to score third-up. Respect the stable bringing her down. Drawn well. 9. Xtreme has been around the mark in two highways this time in, possibly found himself a little bit too far back in the latest of them two weeks ago. Must include in the chances.How to play it: Wayburn to win.Race 2: MIDWAY HANDICAP (1200M)4. Heroic Deed is showing promise and stepped up quickly to midweek company when scoring a nice win at Warwick Farm almost a month ago. Dashed quickly there and ran right up to strong support. Back a notch to a midway, can’t see why he won’t be competitive again. 2. Annie’s Rose is also back in class after two runs in. She won over 1100m at Rosehill first-up with a late burst along the inside then finished close up in a benchmark 78 at Randwick. Draws one and is a decent threat. 11. Better Late was in control in an all the way win on the Beaumont track at Newcastle second-up. Draws to land right there, wouldn’t surprise if he measures up this time. 15. Call Me Sassy was solid in a midway at Randwick a few weeks ago, she kept making ground into third without threatening the winner. Lightweight each-way hope again.How to play it: Heroic Deed to win.Race 3: CHANDON HANDICAP (2400M)3. Appeared is the short priced favourite after two wins from as many starts in Australia. He does make things hard for himself with flat spots in his races but perhaps the winkers will switch him back on a bit. Not a lot of depth to this race and he will relish the 2400m so must have him on top. 5. Kenmare Bay just keeps running on in his races looking like a next time proposition. He did that behind the smart Aethelwulf two weeks ago. While his best form has generally been on wet tracks he is racing well enough to be a chance. 1. Unbelievable comes through the same race where he finished fifth at his second run since returning from Hong Kong. Perhaps he needs one more to be ready but doesn’t need to improve much to place. 4. Golden Century has had a few chances of late, threatened a bit, and hasn’t looked like winning. Placed over this trip at Randwick last time out and has a place chance.How to play it: Appeared to win.Race 4: PRECISE AIR HANDICAP (1800M)10. Anthracite couldn’t have better form-lines coming into a race that lacks depth and this might be his big chance. Game on speed behind King Of The Sea and Puntin two back at the mile then led them up at 2000m and boxed on well beating all but Aethelwulf. He’ll be prominent and hard to beat. 2. Star Vega ran a promising race first-up in the Rowley Mile. He made a long run from near the back and only beaten the three lengths. Should continue to improve and has each-way claims. 7. Mukhtalif is a hard to line up given he was a $7 chance first-up at Sandown, sat handy and couldn’t sprint with them. He was tightened up a little and held his ground okay late. Need to respect the state switch and as mentioned this isn’t strong so he has the chance to improve. 8. Savisanta contested two Derbies last season running fifth in the SA version. Always well back at 1400m when resuming but the extra trip here suits and he’s likely to fare better.How to play it: Anthracite to win.Race 5: BISLEY WORKWEAR HANDICAP (1500M)10. Beside The Ocean has the hoof right on the till and just needs a truly run race to be tough to hold out given she’ll likely go back. Was 1100m up to 1500m when a fast closing fourth two weeks ago in a similar race where those on speed were still there at the finish. Will need an ounce of luck but has the right man on board. 9. Puntin will do his thing up on the speed and having put three good runs together, he can be trusted to run well again. Faded out of a place behind Mr Miller last time out. 13. Scripted is finding it hard to win and she was supported into favouritism when third behind Transcend a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps she will be better for the run and she stays in the mix. 8. Transcend makes her own luck near the speed again as she did when winning that race in a close finish. Lost on protest before that. Doesn’t do everything right but racing well and couldn’t leave her out.How To Play It: Beside The Ocean EACH-WAY.Race 6: MYPLATES MING DYNASTY QUALITY (1400M)9. Genesis Runner put the writing on the wall that he’s a promising type with a game second in the Up And Coming where he was closing in on the winner late. Extra 100m is a plus, draws ideally to get that nice run again just behind them and he should be harder to hold out. 11. Savagram was a heavily backed favourite in the same race and sat outside Genesis Runner for much of it. Wasn’t able to pick up as instantly but he did stick on, so wouldn’t be dropping off him too quickly. If he finds the front he might take some catching. 5. Tenenbaum was far too good for four rivals when carrying 61kg to an easy first-up win at Canterbury. He’s shown plenty of promise, started $1.22 in the Clarendon in May, and no surprise to see him step up and be a force. 2. Stormy Marco won that race at Hawkesbury and trained on to notch a group 1 placing in the JJ Atkins in Brisbane.How To Play It: Genesis Runner to win.Race 7: IRRESISTIBLE POOLS SHERACO STAKES (1200M)8. Weeping Woman had the one run in the autumn and she was too good for Manaal at group 3 level. Returns from that injury enforced break with three trials under her belt, so she’s trained up to run a big race fresh, she stays down in the weights and has a positive racing pattern. Can’t see her doing anything but running a big race. 3. Apocalyptic was more than acceptable first-up in the Toy Show, she just found herself too far off the speed but closed in meeting best sectionals to run third. Different set up now with an inside gate and 1200m and she’s to be respected. 4. Savvy Hallie was a huge disappointment in that race, she was a $3.30 chance and faded to run last. She’s better than that. She beat Apocalyptic second-up in the autumn at this trip and she could bounce back quickly. 2. Lazzura might find the 1200m a touch short but she’s drawn to do no work and showed her quality last time in with a Coolmore Classic win and a second in the All Aged Stakes.How To Play It: Weeping Woman to win.Race 8: YULONG RUN TO THE ROSE (1200M)Wary of falling for the flashing light run but it was hard to miss 12. Under Focus in the Rosebud first-up. From a wide gate he went back to last and powered home to be beaten three lengths by Chilly Girl. The form out of the race is solid, he’s drawn a lot better so expect him to not give away so much start and if that’s the case he can be right in the finish. 7. St Gotthard has a boom on him and he’s certainly done nothing wrong with two wins from two starts including an impressive four length win at the Gold Coast in May. Realistically the depth of form has to be questioned but he’s trialling well and has everything set for him to step up. 5. Warwoven ran a nice race in the San Domenico when resuming, he went back and worked to the line well into fifth place. Up to 1200m is a plus, whether he goes forward this time remains to be seen but he can cause some trouble with the right run. 9. Cormier was excellent in his first preparation and while he’ll prefer further than 1200m a dry track really suits him after his two game defeats on heavy ground. Expect him to be hitting the line.How To Play It: Under Focus each-way.Race 9: TOYOTA FORKLIFTS THEO MARKS STAKES (1300M)6. Skyhook does have a challenge from that outside barrier but expect they’ll be positive and put him in the race given there’s not exactly high speed engaged. He was most effective ridden that way in the winter. Looks the most promising horse in the race and with that touch of luck in the first 200m or so he will be hard to beat. 7. Verona Rose can run a big race first-up. She did just that in the autumn before winning second-up at 1400m. Just the one sharp trial where she was closing off well and she’s a good each-way hope. 5. Midnight In Tokyo is up and running with a game win in the Show County a few weeks ago. No reason to change tactics, she’ll press forward and if she gets a few cheap sectionals take some running down. 13. Lord Of Biscay usually pulls out a decent run fresh and he’d be a chance down in the weights. Won the Provincial-Midway Championships in the autumn quite comfortably.How To Play It: Skyhook to win.Race 10: ROSEHILL BOWLING CLUB HANDICAP (1200M)10. Ruination did an excellent job first-up from a spell at Canterbury sitting on speed and kicking before holding off a handy one late. Big gap to third is encouraging. He showed promise last season, he ran second to Attica in the Dulcify, and with the good draw and 4kg drop in the weights he’ll be more than competitive. 9. Karinska might be dangerous if they overdo it up front. There was a bit to like about her late work in the Toy Show first-up and the extra 100m is a boost to her chances. Strike rate is a worry but she’s raced in a number of stakes events so this might suit her. 4. Rivellino took on the big guns in the autumn and was just a bit off the pace with them. He’ll improve on whatever he does at the short trip first-up. 6. Eagle Express has been kept fresh since she won at Rosehill a month ago.
