The Baner police have arrested two men in connection with the incident.The accused have been identified as Dinesh Dashrath Biradar, 23, and Prashant Navnath Bhondve, 25, both residents of Balewadi. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections, including attempt to murder and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.According to the police, the incident took place at around 8.30 pm on Saturday near Dasra Chowk in Balewadi. The woman, Manisha Sanjay Bhandari, had gone to the area to walk her dog when she noticed the two men sitting inside a car and consuming alcohol.WOMAN OBJECTS TO DRINKINGAccording to Bhandari’s complaint, her dog went near the car while the two men were sitting inside it. The men asked whether the dog would bite. Bhandari told them that the dog would not bite. She then noticed that the two men were drinking alcohol inside the car. Bhandari objected to them consuming alcohol on the spot and told them that the area was not a place to drink.She then continued walking her dog. According to the complaint, when Bhandari returned to the area, the two men were still inside the car and were playing loud music. An argument followed, after which the accused allegedly drove the vehicle towards her.WOMAN SUFFERS HAND AND LEG INJURIESPolice said the car hit Bhandari, causing injuries to her hand and leg. The complaint also states that the two men abused and threatened her following the incident.The woman was subsequently taken for medical treatment. Police have recorded her statement and collected evidence as part of the investigation.The Baner police later arrested both Biradar and Bhondve after collecting technical evidence related to the incident. Medical examinations of both the woman and the accused have also been completed.A senior inspector at Baner police station confirmed the arrests and said the investigation was continuing.“The medical examinations of the victim and the accused have been completed. The accused were arrested after technical evidence was collected.
