PS5 Users Are Receiving "Wallet Credits" When Buying Certain Games

Sign in to your TheGamer account PlayStation seems to be rolling out a new loyalty scheme that will get users a little bit of money back to spend on other things in the PS Store when they buy the latest games. However, in typical PlayStation fashion, even though this is a good thing, there has been no official announcement. PS Store Wallet Credits PlayStation That means we are currently working with screenshots and hearsay when it comes to piecing together what exactly this new program is and who can benefit from it, although as more anecdotal evidence surfaces, the more real the program becomes. It began with a post shared by a PS5 owner in the UK that was spotted by PlayStation Lifestyle. The post includes a screenshot from The Blood of Dawnwalker’s PS Store page. Under the tile for each edition of the game is a note informing the user that they’ll receive $10 in “wallet credit” if they buy the game before the end of the day on September 29, 2026. The same user bought the game and confirmed that $10 was immediately credited to their PS Store account. A second user, again in the UK, claimed that they were met with a banner ad informing them of other games that would net them some wallet credit if bought within a certain time limit. The other games mentioned included Star Wars: Zero Company, Halloween: The Game, and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. Those are all games that have been released within the last month, suggesting that the wallet credit rewards will come with select new games. Seemingly not all new games, though. As of yet, there has been no mention of Marvel’s Wolverine being included in the new loyalty program. No Rhyme Or Reason To Who Is Being Presented With The New Program The program definitely isn’t available to everyone yet, and as is often the case with this sort of thing, it’s tricky to pinpoint exactly what qualifies those who have been given wallet credit when buying new games. I’m based in the UK and have both a UK and US PSN account. However, when checking the store pages for the games reportedly included in the program, at no stage was I offered any wallet credit for a supposedly qualifying purchase. Although it isn’t widely available yet, there has been an expectation that PlayStation has been working on a new loyalty scheme. Not just because it scrapped its prior program, PlayStation Stars, but also because an app simply titled “Wallet Credits” was discovered in the PS Store earlier this year. Now we know what that app will be used for. PlayStation also needs to win back some goodwill with its users, not to mention soften the blow of forcing more of them to buy their games digitally through the PS Store when it stops putting games on discs in 2028. Even though the wallet credit users receive can only be spent in the PS Store, and is a rather transparent way to just get people to buy even more games, it might win back some favor from those who are currently feeling spurned by PlayStation.
