Maureen Galindo, a sex therapist with a history of antisemitic comments, had made it to the Democratic runoff for Texas’ 35th Congressional District, after gaining the most votes in a four-way primary in March. National and local Democrats had condemned her candidacy, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) was backing her runoff opponent, but a political action committee called Lead Left PAC spent more than $1 million boosting Galindo, including through ads that touted her as “the only candidate who will stop Trump and ICE.” Grayson Logue is a staff writer for The Dispatch and is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
