She wrote: “My puppy was outside the front of our home for just 30 to 60 seconds having a quick sniff when the postman arrived. Within an hour, he had become unresponsive. “Since then, six of my cats have also required emergency veterinary treatment.” She went on to say that one of her cats – Bean – didn’t survive, and three others remain ill. Most read in The Sun Pickle reportedly died “on the table” before he was later revived and has since made a remarkable recovery. Meanwhile, her cats were “extremely distressed” and “seizing” before she raced them to the vets. Courtney told the Daily Mail that she also temporarily lost her sight while she had to race her children to hospital after they started experiencing symptoms including headaches and upset stomachs. She said: “All my animals have had to learn to walk again, to stand again, how to eat. “It’s really crazy. I haven’t been able to grieve. My daughter is having nightmares, she’s witnessed the most horrific things, she’s three years old.” Meanwhile, she is stuck inside her home as the contaminated area has not been made safe after she called emergency services. Courtney said that she was told the substance responsible was a mixture of heroin and a second ingredient which is thought to have been sprayed in her home. She wrote on her fundraiser: “The vets caring for my pets have told me they have never experienced a case like this before. “My pets are family. They are everything to me and my children, and with another baby on the way, this has been the most devastating experience of our lives. “Losing Bean has shattered our hearts, and I am desperately trying to give the others every possible chance of surviving.” A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said they were working to establish the circumstances around the incident. “A 32-year-old woman was arrested by officers in connection with the incident. She has since been released on bail while enquiries are continuing,” they added.
