Multiple calls were made to Essex Police on Saturday afternoon about a Lamborghini Huracan that was driving at speeds suspected to be more than twice the limit in Southend. Officers then seized the supercar under tougher laws introduced to crack down on dangerous driving. 'Antisocial driving can pose a danger to other people using the road and cause misery to residents,' a force spokesman said. 'The safety of our communities will always be our priority and we’ll take action against those who risk the safety of others.'The Lamborghini Huracan has an on-the-road recommended retail price of £238,195, depending on the model, according to Autotrader. The vehicle was seized under section 59 of the Police Reform Act, which was strengthened earlier this year to allow police to confiscate cars on the spot for any vehicle causing alarm, distress or annoyance to the public. Drivers who drive their cars in a reckless way by wheelspinning and causing burnouts, drifting in public places, racing in residential areas or repeatedly revving their engines could have their vehicle seized. On Wednesday, police seized five Lamborghinis and a Mercedes G-Wagon as they stopped a fleet of supercars using a motorway as a racetrack.The high-powered vehicles drove at high speed, weaved across lanes, spun their wheels and slowed down to as little as 17mph. Responders from the Transport Policing and Crime Command located the convoy on the M62, and were able to stop two Lamborghinis as they exited the motorway.The rest of the vehicles were stopped in Rochdale.At least three of the vehicles appear to be a Lamborghini SVJ, which sold from £360,000 on its release – but are now worth closer to £800,000.
