Police launch investigation after woman fatally struck by car on Auckland's North Shore

An investigation has been launched after a woman was fatally struck by a car on Auckland's North Shore on Monday.Police were called to the intersection of Tristram Avenue and Wairau Road at 6.37pm after reports a woman had been struck by a vehicle.The woman was transported to hospital in a critical condition but was pronounced deceased a short time later, police said."The Serious Crash Unit has completed a scene examination, and a post-mortem is taking place today," Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams said."Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing."Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the matter, but would like to hear from those who witnessed the events leading up to the woman's death.Anyone with information or dashcam footage was asked to contact police on 105, online or via the phone, quoting file number 261012/4844.Information could also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
