Sign in to your ScreenRant account It's no secret that any new Pokémon game lives and dies on its roster of creatures, and players need compelling reasons to continue their adventures through whatever continent they happen to be on. This is particularly true for the first games of a new generation, when so much of that offering is unavoidably going to be entirely new to the community. Arguably the most high profile of that new selection are the Legendaries, the most powerful 'mons in the game who serve as the ultimate catch for any budding trainer. With all of that in mind, we turn our attention to Winds and Waves, the first games of the tenth generation and a chance for the series to really revolutionize the formula after a relatively stale few years. Though the developer hasn't told us much just yet, information has started to emerge online, including on potential details about the Legendaries that players will be on the lookout for. Over on Twitter/X, the user Light shared a post pointing to leaks about the two Legendaries that are set to be included in Winds and Waves. As you might expect, one is associated with each element, and there's plenty of reason to think that the information provided is likely quite accurate. The Garuda is much more similar to Pokémon we have seen in the past, with the series having a long and fruitful association with bird-like divine creatures in years gone by. The Naga-esque mermaid creature is much more interesting, though, and it would mark a bit of a departure from the usual design formula for the franchise. The box art has also historically been a huge part of players' thinking behind which game they want to buy (if they don't get both). In that case, it will be interesting to see how these designs influence decision-making, but it's easy to see a world where the unique Naga design is enough to push the community towards Waves in the first instance. The only other 'mons that have definitely been confirmed for the games so far are the new starters, Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua, and those have gone down universally well with fans. If Winds and Waves can hit the same notes as their other designs, then we should be on to a winner, with the only unfortunate caveat being that we likely won't actually get to play any of it until the back half of 2027.
