Officially released worldwide on September 16, the special anniversary set is designed as a tribute to three decades of Pokémon history, blending nostalgic callbacks with some striking new artwork and card treatments. While hype for the 30th Celebration line has peaked in the past weeks, the launch itself has been a bit troublesome, with many fans concerned about scalpers and bots rapidly buying up stock before ordinary collectors have a chance to place orders. Products sold out almost immediately at some retailers and quickly appeared on the secondary market at steep markups, while The Pokémon Company’s attempts to combat bot purchases have created problems of their own, with some legitimate customers reporting that their orders were canceled alongside suspected scalper purchases. Worse yet, the change was quietly updated on Pokémon's official website and retailer listings, including Best Buy, rather than being accompanied by a formal explanation. Exactly why the Binder Collection was delayed remains unclear. Similar Pokémon TCG product delays have previously been caused by manufacturing, component sourcing, assembly, or shipping problems, but The Pokémon Company has not confirmed that any of those issues are responsible this time around. The situation is particularly unusual because Binder Collections have already appeared in the hands of streamers months ahead of release. Those early openings contributed to numerous 30th Celebration cards leaking online well before the set's official launch, although there is currently no evidence establishing a connection between those leaks and the delay. Fortunately, the Binder Collection appears to be an isolated setback. The release schedule for the other 30th Anniversary TCG products remains unchanged, with additional products continuing to roll out in waves through September, October, November, and December. Still, the past few days have been a bit rocky for Pokémon TCG collectors who've been waiting for the 30th Celebration set for months, and they'll be keeping their fingers crossed that things will smooth out over the coming weeks.
