Sign in to your TheGamer account Before PlayStation revealed plans to stop putting its games on discs starting in 2028, Rockstar revealed physical copies of GTA 6 will be nothing more than a code in a box. However, a handwritten sign at a GameStop may have revealed you’ll actually get a little more than that, even if your copy of GTA 6 still won’t be on a disc. There Might Be A Map In GTA 6's Box Rockstar Games The sign, which was spotted at a GameStop in Pennsylvania, claims that if you reserve a copy of GTA 6, you will receive a physical copy of Leonida’s map, the fictional location in which GTA 6 will be set. The ultimate edition details are listed further down, which implies the map comes with physical copies of the standard edition too. Shared by Small_Masterpiece892 on Reddit, they immediately follow up in the replies to make sure the rest of the world knows that, even though they’re the ones who snapped the pic, they are as skeptical as the rest of us right now. While GameStop employees might be privy to more information than most since they’re taking pre-orders for the game, it still seems unlikely that they’d know something like this, especially since physical copies of the game almost certainly haven’t arrived in store yet. Although, since they’re codes in boxes that can’t be activated until pre-loads go live, and can’t be played until release day, maybe there are already physical copies of GTA 6 in GameStop stock rooms right now. Every Mainline GTA Has Included A Physical Copy Of Its Map Perhaps whoever wrote that sign is a longtime GTA fan who is aware of the series’ various traditions. One of those traditions is including a copy of the game’s map in the box. Every single mainline entry in the series, from the original top-down games to GTA 5, has included a physical copy of the map. It stands to reason that many might assume that tradition won’t be broken for GTA 6. That said, if it is a leap a GameStop employee has decided to make based on a hunch rooted in tradition, it’s a risky one to make. We already know that GTA 6 will break a series tradition by being the first mainline entry that isn’t available on a disc. The maps were tied to those discs, alongside them in boxes for the last 30 years. If Rockstar doesn’t think it’s worth putting the game itself on a disc anymore, then it seems unlikely it would go to the effort of printing millions of maps to put inside those otherwise empty boxes.
