Petition Calling for Zelensky Press Conference With Independent Media Reaches 25,000 Signatures

A petition calling on President Volodymyr Zelensky to hold an open press conference with independent journalists has gathered the required 25,000 signatures and is now awaiting consideration. It calls for a separate press conference where journalists from independent and public-interest media could question Zelensky on domestic policy, government decisions and demands raised during recent protests. The petition specifically names Ukrainska Pravda, Bihus.Info, Slidstvo.Info, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, hromadske, Suspilne, NV, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, BBC Ukraine and Liga.net, among others. The petition calls for journalists to be allowed to ask questions “without prior agreement of their content.” “We are asking not for a simulation of dialogue, but for a real opportunity to be heard,” it says. Zelensky last held a major press conference in February 2025. Since then, he has answered journalists’ questions during foreign trips, at briefings following visits by foreign delegations to Kyiv and, selectively, in chats with media outlets on social media.
