Paul McCartney has released a Special Edition of his latest solo album ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane’, which features four new songs including a reimagined version of his Ringo Starr duet ‘Home To Us’. READ MORE: Paul McCartney: “Writing a song is still a magic feeling for me, and hopefully always will be” The record was released back in May, and marked the first solo release from the music icon since 2020’s ‘McCartney III’. The 14-songs saw him open up about his younger years in a way not seen before – recalling his childhood in Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, early adventures shared with George Harrison and John Lennon before they found fame with The Beatles, and more. It went on to top the global charts and also became named as one of the 12 Albums of the Year shortlisted for the 2026 Mercury Prize – McCartney’s first nomination for the prestigious award. Now, a new Special Edition of the album has been announced, and it features four new songs that were all written around the same time as the original record. One of the new tracks is an alternate version of ‘Home To Us’ – the tender duet that saw McCartney reunite with his Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr for their first solo collaboration. With the new ‘Flip Mix’, the original parts in the song have been swapped over, meaning fans can hear McCartney sing the sections originally performed by Starr. Other new songs on the special edition of the album include brand new, previously-unreleased songs called ‘City Fox’, ‘One Night Stand’ and ‘Chelsea Boots’. Check them all out below. The album is available digitally now, and physical copies will be released on December 9. Vinyl formats include a limited edition 2LP orange and blue marble vinyl featuring a zoetrope etching, and all new editions of the album come with a new artwork.Recommended The cover is adapted from a silkscreened collage by Kate Gibb, compiling more than 100 images from McCartney’s personal collection. We started playing, and I struck a chord, like a mad chord. We just kept going. It became this production journey where we made all these songs to our satisfaction. And we just enjoyed it, like a couple of ‘Boys of Dungeon Lane’. Little boys in a sandpit, having fun,” he continued. “Our journey through Dungeon Lane continues with the ‘Special Edition’.” To promote the new version of the record, McCartney made a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s Brooklyn week, and joked that he will not be inviting Larry David to any more of his shows, after the comedian and writer refused to sing along when attending an intimate show in Los Angeles. NME gave ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’ a four-star review, and described it as “a guided tour of the long and winding road”. “Elsewhere, against all odds, given that this album arrives some 63 years after the Beatles’ debut ‘Please Please Me’, Macca actually makes history on ‘The Boys Of Dungeon Lane’,” the review read. Ahead of the album’s release, McCartney sat down with NME to look forwards and back on his extraordinary career, share his “excitement” at contributing to the new The Rolling Stones album, and also reveal if he has plans to retire. “I don’t know. I never know, y’know?” the 83-year-old music icon said, recalling how his manager asked him the same question when he was 50. He then added that he still wants to perform live as he is aware that there are very few opportunities for fans to hear the music from his era in person, and said that his love of songwriting hasn’t diminished over the years. “Creative satisfaction is just writing a song – it’s still the same old satisfaction that it was,” he shared. “There’s something magical about it, and I often think, ‘I never set out to be a singer-songwriter person.’ When I was at school, I thought the only thing left for me would be a teacher, because I didn’t have massive qualifications and unfortunately, that mean[t] you have to be a teacher.” “But I got in the band, and it just led me to this,” he continued. “So, the satisfaction is just being able to write a song and, if you pull it off, that’s the same satisfaction that it always was. Some of them you pull off better than others, but it’s still a great thing.” Read that interview in full here, or tune in the video above.
