Gaming fans have been paying tribute to acting great Patrick Stewart, who has died at the age of 86. The beloved actor, known for his roles in the Star Trek and X-Men franchises, passed away on Wednesday (October 28) at his home in Los Angeles. His family disclosed in an Instagram post shared on Thursday (October 29) that he had undergone “a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia”. Stewart’s remarkable career stretched out over nearly 70 years, and included extensive stage work as well as many high-profile film and TV assignments. He also featured in well over two dozen video games, many associated with Star Trek and X-Men, but others on a more ad hoc basis. Among his video game appearances being remembered by fans are his dual role as Zobek/Death in 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and its 2014 sequel, and his role as Emperor Uriel Septim VII in 2006’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
