Patient's son barges into doctor's cabin, assaults him; attack caught on CCTV

A patient's son assaulted a doctor at a hospital in Kalyan after questioning how he spoke during a consultation. Doctor Yogendra Jaiswal was explaining the condition and treatment of a patient, Jaywant Deshmukh, when his son, Vineet, entered the cabin and confronted him.The argument escalated, with Vineet abusing the doctor before returning to the cabin and assaulting him.According to Jaiswal, Jaywant Deshmukh had suffered a rib injury and a fracture. The doctor said he was explaining the patient's condition, medication and precautions when Vineet objected to the way he was speaking. Vineet questioned the doctor about his manner of speaking and then walked out of the cabin after abusing him. The doctor said the accused returned shortly afterwards and assaulted him.CCTV footage from inside the hospital captures the confrontation and the assault. The incident caused tension on the hospital premises. "I was explaining everything to him, including what to do and how to take the medicine. His son kept asking why I was talking so bluntly," Jaiswal said.The doctor subsequently approached the police, following which an FIR was registered.Kalyan ACP Suhas Hemade said the accused had spoken rudely and abused the doctor while claiming that the medication was not working, following which a scuffle broke out.Police have registered a case and the accused is currently on the run.The incident comes soon after a doctor and nurse were allegedly assaulted at Shastri Nagar Hospital in Dombivli, also in the Kalyan area, raising fresh concerns over the safety of doctors and medical staff at healthcare facilities.- EndsPublished By: Karishma Saurabh KalitaPublished On: Aug 25, 2026 08:46 IST
