An Uzbekistan Airways passenger demanded more alcohol, cursed at the crew after being cut off, and kept the tantrum going upon landing. Then he threw his own suitcase off the aircraft stairs and kicked it across the ramp. The next day he received a seven day sentence. The 36-year-old Russian man was traveling on flight HY552 from Kuala Lumpur to Tashkent on November 5. According to local reporting on the court proceedings, the senior flight attendant refused his repeated requests for alcohol because he was already intoxicated. He responded by swearing at her and other passengers. Another flight attendant tried to calm him down and received more abuse. Police boarded on arrival in Tashkent. They told him to calm down, leave the aircraft, and come with them to the airport’s administrative building to explain himself. He refused to cooperate and continued swearing. Video of his exit< shows him throwing the suitcase over the side of the stairs. It lands on the pavement with its handle extended. He walks down, approaches the bag, and kicks it away. Usually when a suitcase gets treated like this, the passenger files a claim with the airline. A post shared by Pressa.uz (@pressauz) On November 6, a court in Tashkent found him guilty of petty hooliganism and failing to comply with lawful police demands. He confessed, expressed remorse, and promised it wouldn’t happen again. His punishment was seven days of administrative detention. The court assigned a 440,000 soum (US$36.59) fine to the police noncompliance offense. I’ve covered a United Airlines business class passenger who walked off his own flight when he couldn’t get another drink, and a Russian passenger on flydubai who demanded alcohol and had to be removed by police. Here, we justice acted swiftly. Meanwhile, one of the most popular comments on one posting of the video was “What’s the suitcase brand? It passed the test.” Topics on this page
