Paramount Developing ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ Sequel With Producer Kate Hudson

Paramount Pictures is in early development on a sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, the beloved rom-com starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, a source close to the project confirms to Deadline. While Hudson is set to produce alongside Stacey Sher, whether she and/or McConaughey will return to star is not yet clear. There’s no logline yet for the sequel, nor a writer aboard the project, so stay tuned as things progress. One of the most revisited studio rom-coms of the 2000s, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days watches as magazine writer Andie Anderson (Hudson) and ad executive Benjamin Barry (McConaughey) enter a relationship, each with a secret agenda: she wants to drive him away for a story, while he bets he can make her fall in love with him in 10 days. Their schemes are foiled when real feelings enter the picture. Donald Petrie directed the film, which released in February 2003, grossing over $178M worldwide. Kristen Buckley, Brian Regan and Burr Steers penned the script, with Lynda Obst, Robert Evans and Christine Peters producing. Watch on Deadline Variety was first to the news of the sequel.
