Pakistan has 'not lost hope' in US-Iran de-escalation efforts, prime minister says

Pakistan's prime minister said the country is ready to make progress in efforts to de-escalate US-Iran tensions. "Pakistan is playing the role of a sincere and honest mediator between Iran, our neighborly country, and the United States," Sharif told reporters at the UN in New York. Recalling the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington, Sharif said that "unfortunately, events after that got a bit unpredictable". However, he indicated that Islamabad "is completely focused". "We have not lost hope; we [are] absolutely determined that we will further make efforts and make progress to de-escalate the situation," he added.
